Marine Life vs. Human Life

On Monday a Federal Judge by the name of Florence-Marie Cooper of the U. S. District Court in LA granted a preliminary injunction sought out by the Natural Resources Defense Council against the Navy. The NR sought the injunction on grounds that "mass strandings of whales following naval exercises have been documented" in locations such as Bahamas and Taiwan. The strandings occurred after use of the Navy's military sonar.

Okay so here are my thoughts on this. I do share sympathy for Marine life. I enjoy snorkeling and have even tried Scuba Diving. However, when it comes to prohibiting our military from the ability to train using the sonar system at a time of war is in my opinion, not a good idea. Perhaps the Judge or NR can provide an idea of where the Navy can train. But I bet they could care less. How in the world will it be possible for the Navy to detect enemies vessels if there are unable to continue to stay up to date with the training process?

Again, I agree that marine life should not have to perish for practice. However, I for one do not want to die because of inability to detect an enemy vessel. And of course that may become a possibility because once again marine life is greater than that of humans.
